Happy Winter FSE Families,
It is so hard to believe that we are mid-way through the school year! During this time of year, I find myself reflecting on the last several months and the accomplishments of our students. I am truly blessed to work in such a wonderful community with supportive and dedicated families, students and staff. Flagstone is a place that collectively puts the students at the heart of what they do, every day. I am so proud of the hard work that our students do each day to show kindness to one another, problem solve real-world situations and set personal goals to improve their learning. Flagstone is a place that I love to serve and am thankful every day for the staff that also serve this wonderful community. Have a wonderful holiday season and a spectacular New Year.
Happy Holidays,
Kelli Smith, FSE Principal
Need Your Help With Student Safety
Recently there has been an increase in dangerous driving during the FSE after school pickup. We ask that parents go very slow when coming into our neighborhood to ensure the safety of our kids and our drivers. We are seeing an increase in drivers that are turning right out of our lot (this is the expectation at dismissal) and then after a short distance doing a U-Turn. This practice is VERY dangerous and we need parents to stop doing this. Kids are crossing the street here, drivers are blocking the street and someone is going to get hurt. Please take the extra time to go around the block to ensure the safety of our kids, they are worth it.
Student Led Conferences
What a wonderful conference week we had the week before Thanksgiving Break. Our students did a great job sharing their personal goals and the progress that they have made this year. It was so fun to see our students present their work to their parents with pride and accomplishment. Thank you for spending this time at school with your child to honor their hard work.
FSE PTO Holiday Shop
Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who are working in the holiday shop this week. This is such a fun way for our students to shop for their families where they feel such pride in being able to find just the right gift for their loved one. What a special program that these folks give to our students!
I-Ready Assessment
This month your child has taken or will take, the I-Ready Assessment (in reading and math) test again. This is a universal screening (meaning every student in K-8 in Douglas County takes this assessment) that is given in August, December and May to measure students growth in both reading and math. We use this as one measure of students growth in reading and math along with other teacher created assessments. Teachers discuss this data to personalize instruction for your child through various groups across each grade level.
Elementary Progress Reports
Elementary Progress Reports will be available December 22nd, these will be a comprehensive report of your child's progress for the first half of the school year. Our FSE commitment to parents is that you will receive monthly communication regarding the progress of your child through teacher communication, conferences, and these elementary progress reports. If you have a specific question about the report please contact your child's teacher. Please see below for instructions on how to access these EPRs
- Parents/guardians will use the same username and password they use for access to the IC Parent Portal.
- Instructions & Support
Once logged in, parents and guardians will see a student card for all students enrolled in the district. For all elementary students, parents/guardians will see a Most Recent EPR link.
In most cases, parents/guardians will first see a Highlights page for the EPR that is a school selected summary of that semester's report card. To see the Full Report Card, parents/guardians can click on the "Go To Full Report Card" button in the upper right corner.
From the Full Report Card view, parents/guardians can return to the Highlights view or can elect to access/download/print a PDF of the current report card using the buttons in the upper right corner.
If you are in need of technical support, please email parenthelp@dcsdk12.org or call the DCSD IT Support Center at 303-387-0001.
