School Accountability Committee

2016-2017 School Accountability Committee (SAC)

SAC Purpose

The Flagstone School Accountability Committee (FSAC) is a state required committee that leads school improvement. The FSAC is comprised of school stakeholders including the principal, school staff, parents and community members.
The SAC meets on a quarterly basis and is open to the public.
  1. The SAC advises the principal on its school priorities for spending school moneys including state, federal and discretionary funding.
  2. The SAC advises the principal regarding school improvement plans.
As we move into the new school year, I would like to invite you to consider an opportunity here at Flagstone. Colorado state law encourages parent representatives to participate on a School Accountability Committee (SAC).  The SAC would be responsible for general oversight of the school progressing toward its school-wide goals. This group will recommend to the principal 1) priorities for spending school moneys and 2) advise the school regarding the school improvement plan.  The committee will discuss school improvement on a quarterly basis. Meeting times will be determined with new members.
Currently we have one position open on the committee. I invite you to consider this opportunity to serve Flagstone. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please fill out the interest form here and submit it by Wednesday, September 29.  If you have any questions, please call the office at 303-387-5225 or email Mrs. Smith atkmsmith1@dcsdk12.org or stop by the main office.
Thank you for you continued support. We are looking forward to a great year!

We are not using the FSE app this year.  Last year it was free and this year there was a significant fee attached so we opted to use twitter and our blasts to communicate school news.  Don't forget to check us out at #oneflagstone

Digital Citizenship Curriculum
Our school believes strongly that along with academic standards our children need to be taught how to be good digital citizens.  Mrs. Petrillo along with our classroom teachers teach the following citizenship lessons in the following grades: Click here.  Our students learn how to be safe on the internet, what cyberbullying is and what the rings of responsibility are when using technology among many other lifelong skills.  Please ask your child's teacher or Mrs. Petrillo if you are interested in hearing more about this curriculum.

Morning Start
PLEASE make sure you are dropping your children off in the kiss and go lanes in the morning.  ALL students need to enter through the front door, even our students in the mobiles.  We do not have supervision on the street at Lovington for drop off so please help us keep our students safe and enter through the front door.

FSE Expedition Coming Soon!
Parents! This year’s main fundraiser is the FSE Expedition! It’s a 9-day program that kicks off with a Pep Rally on Sept 7th. Then families will have time to get pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps), and we’ll celebrate at the Fun Run on Sept 16th. With our big goal to raise funds for hanging projectors, a new engineering curriculum, and creative spaces, we asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our Fun Run and make it more profitable, easier, and fun.

Students will also experience an amazing character theme, BACKYARD BOX OFFICE! It’s a movie theme all about making a difference by getting into character. Our students will learn from five REAL kid difference-makers. From inventors, to world-class speakers, to business owners, to world-record holders, these five kids will inspire our students to practice the five “Character Acts” and make a difference in our community.

Donations will go toward our fundraising items, and to the entire 9-day experience. So please help our school by reaching out to sponsors. Also, all families are invited to come out and cheer on your student at the Fun Run! Thank you for your support--FSE PTO
