Dear FSE Families,
Wow! What a great year!! I have been so impressed with the growth of each of our students this year! As a staff, we have many wonderful things to celebrate. Below are some of these accomplishments.
- Excellent CMAS test results, exceeding growth and being honored with the Governors Improvement Award.
- The implementation of the Second Step program, our new social-emotional curriculum in K-6
- Year two implementation of Envision, our new math program.
- The researching of a new writing program and decision to adopt Lucy Calkins, a highly regarded writing program that includes a workshop model and strong academic rigor.
- One to one technology for our 2-6 graders with ipad access to our K-1 students.
- Implementation of I-Ready, our reading, and math formative assessment.
- Teachers collaboratively teaching small reading and math lessons to their students to target specific academic skills.
- The launch of our Digital Boot camp that teaches all students digital citizenship skills.
Next year we are excited to work on our following goals:
- The welcoming of Patti Robers, our counselor to FULL TIME. She will be overseeing our Second Step program in addition to providing social-emotional support to our students and staff.
- The continuation of social-emotional teaching with the addition of zones of regulation taught in all classrooms. This program teaches students skills to help them regulation their emotions when they get angry or sad.
- We will begin year 3 of EnVision math.
- We will launch our new writing curriculum, Lucy Calkins.
- We will continue our collaborative team teaching of focused reading and math skills.
- We will continue to have interventions to support our gifted and struggling students.
19-20 School Year Upcoming Dates
- July 15th Parent Express Check-In Opens
- You will need to sign forms for the upcoming school year
- July: End of July Class Lists posted in Parent Portal
- August 5th Meet and Greet in the afternoon
- In July each family will receive an email to sign up for a time to meet your teacher, drop off your supplies and get fall classroom information from your child's teacher.
- August 7th First Day of School
- August 12th Digital Book Camp Begins
- August 12: Flagstone School Accountability Meeting: in the library
- August 13: 7pm PTO Meeting in the library
